About African Ovangkol (Guibourtia Ehie J. Loenard)
The African Ovangkol have native habitat from Africa central & west region countries such as : Cameroon, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Nigeria is considered a high density timber with attractive wood grains for musical instruments especially guitars, often is used as a cheaper substitute of Indian Rosewood.
Guibourtia is a flowering plant genus in the family Fabaceae. It contains 16 species, native to tropical regions of Africa. They occur in swampy or periodically inundated forests, as well as near rivers or at lakeshores. They are evergreen trees growing to 40–50 m tall, with a trunk diameter of 1–2 m, often with a heavily buttressed trunk. The wood grains streak have contrasting hue / colors, ranging from yellow, brownish, dark red and shades of dark brown to black streaks, it has some gorgeous shadows of opaque grains.
Please note : every piece of guitar may have variation of grain pattern woods and it is impossible to get 2 or more guitars with identical wood grains patterns.
